Description

Straddie Zinc Tan a new addition to our natural Straddie Zinc range made right here on North Stradbroke Island.  Made using natural ingredients and containing just over 30% zinc oxide.  Zinc Oxide acts as an absorber of the full UV spectrum, both short UVB to long UVA.  It is the best natural, mineral sunscreen ingredient on the market.  We also use Red Raspberry Seed Oil, known to absorb UVB and UVC sun rays.  Great for those days when you just don’t want to get out of the water, this is the perfect surf zinc.  Many of our customers have told us this is the best surf zinc cream they’ve ever used and they’ve tried plenty.

We have 2 Straddie Zinc creams, Fair and Tan.  These Straddie Zinc creams will help to nourish and protect your skin against the harsh natural elements and the drying effects of the sun.

Having lived at Point Lookout on North Stradbroke Island for over 25 years and making natural skincare for much of that time, it was only natural to progress to making a natural zinc cream.  Living at the beach it was important to develop a cream that would nourish and protect your skin and meet the needs of a Straddie lifestyle.

How did it all begin?  Back in October 2017, sitting around the table with our friends from the North Stradbroke Island Surf School we talked about making a zinc cream.  ‘Straddie Zinc’ was born.  After researching, tweaking and testing by family and friends, we came up with our original natural zinc cream using organic cocoa butter, shea butter and using organic cacao powder for colour.  We’ve now added our two new Straddie Zinc creams coloured with nature identical iron oxides to better match your skintone.

Why a Zinc Cream?

Zinc oxide is an odorless white powder that naturally occurs in the mineral zincite.  It is insoluble in water providing a number of practical uses.  Commonly used in foods, first-aid tapes, pigments and personal products.  The perfect ingredient for a natural sun block and known to have soothing effects widely used against skin irritations.  Often one of the key active ingredients in many baby powders and nappy rash creams.   Zinc oxide forms a protective barrier on the skin.  It helps treat and prevent various skin conditions including nappy rash, insect bites, and minor skin irritations.

What about an SPF rating?

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) regulates sunscreens in Australia.  To obtain an SPF rating sunscreens must be manufactured in a TGA recognised factory.  As our Zinc Cream is handmade there are no therapeutic claims made or intended for this product.

Note:  Should you have sensitive skin please try a patch test first. Please discontinue use if you experience discomfort or other indications that the product may not be appropriate for you.

Straddie Zinc is a registered trademark and subsidiary of Nourish Naturally.
